Follies Production on Friday, April 3

Follies is a GWSB student group that puts on an MBA-themed comedy show in the spring. In the show, you can expect video and live skits that poke fun at the MBA experience, GWU, and your classmates and professors. View the trailer here. Global and Experiential Education is excited at announce their DC & Beyond Tour Series for GWSB International Students! The tours take place in and outside of D.C. allowing you to get to know the city and surrounding areas more intimately. The tours are conducted exclusively by the owner and CEO of DC by Foot tours and are provided COMPLETELY FREE by G&EE! So come join to get to know D.C and become a native Washingtonian! A Fireside Chat with Van Adams – President, VanAdams Sports Group: hosted by GWU Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence

The GWU Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence will be hosting a fireside chat with Van Adams, the President of VanAdams Sports Group on February 23rd 6 pm. We will be asking Ms. Adams to share her entrepreneurial experiences with us – specifically sharing best practices and advice for students looking to start their own business. We will also be encouraging students to ask questions about her business or the sports industry in general.

Van Adams, President of the VanAdams Sports Group, is an award-winning marketing professional with expertise in event management and talent relations. She has represented a number of iconic sports celebrities for their personal brand marketing and business ventures. She’s a recognized revenue-generator, proficient at negotiating deals and adept at strengthening the athlete’s brand making her a highly respected consultant. Her entrepreneurial proficiency extends to digital platforms, niche markets, business management, and program development.

Since becoming an entrepreneur, Van has produced upscale hospitality events for athlete and corporate clients in Super Bowl, MLB, and NBA All-Star cities across the nation. She recently was a Business Connect participant with the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee, a program providing increased opportunities for local small business owners to conduct Super Bowl business. Additionally, she was a keynote speaker and featured panelist as a marketing expert for the program.

As an advocate for women in business, Van created Gathering on the Greens®, an initiative that provides businesswomen an opportunity to learn how to play golf, thus strengthening their confidence to “get in the game” and increase their professional development and networking opportunities. Van is a founding board member of the NYC Metro Chapter of Women in Sports and Events (WISE) where she currently serves as Chapter President leading the way in marketing strategy and programming to fulfill the organization’s national mission of being the voice and resource for professional women in sports business.

At the onset of her career, Van worked with the world-renowned Tiger Football and Baseball programs at her alma mater, Grambling State University in Louisiana where she earned her bachelors in Biology/Pre-Med and masters in Sports Administration. Van has held key positions at prestigious sports organizations including the United States Golf Association, Sports Illustrated, and Buffalo Bills before launching her own business. Van’s most recent accolades include being named one of the 2014 Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Business Owners. An alumnus of the Executive Leadership Institute at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Van is an adjunct professor teaching a graduate class on sports marketing (Manhattanville College) and revenue pricing and strategies (NYU). Van also conducts workshops for small businesses and writes for a number of prominent industry publications on careers, business development and marketing strategies.
